KEA‘AU,
Hawai‘i – (Kamehameha Schools/Pakalani Bello) Kimo Weaver has been named new athletic director at Kamehameha
Hawai‘i, Po‘o Kumu Lehua Veincent announced today.
Weaver
replaces Bob Wagner, the first athletic director at KS Hawai‘i, who announced
his retirement in April. Weaver was the Athletic and Fitness Coordinator at KS
Hawai‘i since 2008, assisting Wagner in the athletic department. His
responsibilities included scheduling the use of campus athletic facilities and
was the head track and field coach, along with an assistant varsity football
and wrestling coach.
"I am
grateful and honored to be named athletic director at Kamehameha Schools
Hawai‘i," said Weaver. "It is both humbling and exciting to have the
opportunity to lead an exceptional staff and outstanding students, to continue
the tradition of excellence that was established under the leadership of Bob
Wagner."
Prior to
coming to KS Hawai‘i, Weaver spent eight years as athletic director at Ka‘u
High School. He also spent eight years as a science teacher and football,
wrestling and track coach in the Clark County School District, in Las Vegas,
Nev., from 1992-2000.

welcome Mr. Kimo Weaver as the new athletic director of the school beginning
this school year," Veincent said. "Mr. Weaver's experience and familiarity with
athletic and school operations will support and foster seamless efforts between
the academia and athletics for our students at Kamehameha. With Mr. Weaver at
the helm of the athletic department working with students, faculty and staff,
administration, ‘ohana and communities that we serve, we are looking forward to
actions, discussions and dialogues that are meaningful and purposeful in putting
our students first while upholding the legacy of our Ali‘i, Pauahi."
Weaver grew up in Hau‘ula and Kailua on O‘ahu, before his
family relocated to Guam, and then to Utah, where he graduated from North
Sevier High School. He earned his undergraduate degree at Southern Utah
University in Physical Education/Biology, before earning his Masters in
Education Technology from Lesley University in Cambrigde, Mass. He is a
certified athletic administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic
Administrators Association.
