DANIEL, EMILIA, NOW FABIO
We're watching three disturbances in the Pacific. What's left of Daniel still has enough steam to trigger a high surf advisory for the East facing shores of the Big Island. Emilia has just been upgraded to a Category Hurricane and within the past half hour, Fabio was named a tropical storm. Dan Cooke is tracking conditions on Sunrise and Ramsay is talking to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center. REPORT OUT ON PENN STATE'S SANDUSKY ABUSE INVESTIGATION
A report just released on the Penn State investigation into the Jerry Sandusky scandal finds top school officials showed "total disregard" for his victims. It concludes the University President, Coach Joe Paterno, Athletic Director and Vice President "repeatedly concealed critical facts" to avoid bad publicity. The report says the men "failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade." Sandusky is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of 45 criminal counts. The scandal led to the ouster of Paterno and the school's President.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR UH ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT?
The FBI is now helping the University of Hawaii after a promoter duped UH into shelling out two hundred thousand dollars for a bogus Stevie Wonder concert. Yesterday, UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple put Athletics Director Jim Donovan and the manager of the Stan Sheriff Center Rich Sheriff on paid leave. Sources say they approved the concert deal without the knowledge of UH President MRC Greenwood. We tried to reach the company that promised Wonder would perform at an Athletics Department Fundraising Concert, but never heard back.
