A standoff on Mokauea Street ended peacefully just before midnight. A distraught man barricaded himself inside a Kalihi home with a knife around 8 p.m. Sunday. No one was taken hostage. The man was taken to the Queen's Medical Center for a psychological evaluation.


An 11-year-old girl missing since Friday was found Sunday night in Palolo Valley. Police say Makanani Tavai-Bright was spotted with a friend, and that friend's parents called police. The girl's parents said that this started as a runaway case and that their child has left home once before. We're told she was upset with someone in their house and left, but never came back.
