HONOLULU (HawaiiNewSNow) - An 11-year-old girl who had been missing since Friday morning was found on Sunday evening.
According to Honolulu Police and CrimeStoppers, Makanani Tavai-Bright was located at 6:45 p.m. in Palolo Valley. Investigators said the girl was spotted with a friend, and that friend's parents called police.
In a statement, CrimeStoppers and HPD also thanked "the public for their assistance in locating" the girl, who would be reunited with her family.
Tavai-Bright is home schooled. Some people reported seeing her Saturday near the International Marketplace in Waikiki.
Makanani Tavai-Bright's parents said that this started as a runaway case and that their child has left home once before, but only for a few hours.
The 11 year old may have been upset with someone in their house and ran out around 6 a.m. Friday.
