Ma'ili property manager cited for illegal dumping

The state Health Department has cited a Ma'ili property manager for illegal dumping following complaints by nearby residents.

Department of Health officials say an investigation revealed over 100 tires and various other automobile parts, including what appear to be parts of old city buses. The Health Department says it looks like most of the trash is generated on-site and is simply being dumped around the property.

Authorities imposed a $4,000 dollar fine and ordered Theresa Magdadaro to remove all solid waste, as well as dig trenches to make sure there was no buried waste at the site. The Health Department says they have not been able to contact the property owner.

Health officials say they warned Magdadaro several times about the garbage piling up before issuing the citation.
