KOHLER, Wisconsin (HawaiiNewsNow) - Punahou alum Michelle Wie suffered a mixed bag of results in round one of the U.S. Women's Open, Thursday.
The 22 year old carded a 2-over 74 in round one, leaving her six strokes off the lead and in a tie for 38th place.
Wie putted 35-times Thursday, but it wasn't due to her short game. For the most part, Michelle struggled to find consistency with her driver and irons, often leaving her in position to make long putts on her birdie attempts.
Former Maui resident Kyung Kim carded a 5-over 74 and is tied for 94th place heading into round two.
