MIAMI (AP) - A tropical depression is becoming better organized over the Pacific but is not a threat to land.

The depression's maximum sustained winds Wednesday afternoon are near 35 mph (55 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says gradual strengthening is expected and the depression could become a tropical storm later in the day.

The depression is centered about 445 miles (715 kilometers) south of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving west-northwest near 12 mph (19 kph). The depression's forecast track shows it going farther out to sea.
