Two hikers rescued from Maunawili Falls Trail

Two separate incidents at a popular Oahu hiking trail kept emergency rescue crews hard at work on Saturday.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., a distress call was made after a 25-year old male hiker suffered a laceration on his leg after falling at the Maunawili Falls Trail. He was reportedly airlifted out of the trail and treated at the scene, but refused further medical transport.

Nearly an hour later, a 21-year old female hiker sustained an injury to her back after jumping from the falls. She was also airlifted from the trail before being transported to Castle Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
