Investigation opened after shots fired near Kailua gas stations

KAILUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have opened an investigation after receiving reports of shots being fired in Kailua Tuesday night.

According to officials, the incident happened near the Shell and Chevron gas stations off Oneawa Street and Kuulei Road at about 9:30 p.m.

A Shell employee tells Hawaii News Now that a man in a white pickup truck parked behind the gas station, ran across the street near the Central Pacific Bank and opened fire on a blue SUV. The employee says the man then ran back to his truck and fled the scene. He was wearing a blue hoodie.

Police taped off the area to search for bullet casings. For now, police have classified the case as reckless endangerment.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
