Some Kauai residents asked to conserve water

LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) - Kauai residents from Haena to Wainiha are being asked to conserve water for two months.

County officials say the water conservation request effective Friday is necessary for continuing rehabilitation of the 100,000-gallon water tank that services the area.

While the work is being done, smaller temporary tanks will provide continued water service. But conservation is necessary to avoid outages.

The county is asking residents to use water for essential needs such as cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
