Last week we televised a three-hour program called, "A Conversation with Coach Chow."
Designed to showcase our new head football coach, Norm Chow, and his newly assembled assistant football coaching staff.
We also wanted to raise much needed funds for Na Koa, the booster program for UH football that helps directly with the special financial needs of operating a college football program.
These monies are needed to provide the staff and players with resources not typically covered in the operating budget -- for example, summer school tuitions, video equipment, sideline head sets and the list goes on.
All major football programs have top flight booster programs that help enable their teams to win on the field by winning off the field with this kind of financial support.
Na Koa has been an integral part of the uh football program for the past 25 years and all of our coaches, past and present, would quickly tell you of the importance and value of Na Koa.
Through your generosity, we were able to raise more than $65,000 in those three hours.
What we saw and heard last week was a head football coach able to articulate a clear vision of his program for the fans and an even clearer set of expectations for his players on what it will take to achieve success on and off the field.
This insight, combined with the intensity, passion and coaching savvy displayed by his assistant coaches throughout the course of the show last week promises an exciting brand of UH football on the road ahead.
Mahalo Hawaii, for your generous support and love for UH football and go Warriors!
