Billionaire Larry Ellison has signed an agreement to purchase 98 percent of Lanai from David Murdock, according to documents filed with the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission.

Forbes ranks Ellison as the world's sixth-richest person, with a net worth of $36 billion as of March.
