Crews extinguish Waikiki apartment fire

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that was burning at an apartment building in Waikiki on Wai Nani Way.

The fire call from Liliuokalani Gardens came in around 12:20 p.m.

Honolulu Fire Capt. Terry Seelig says the fire was confined to one unit on the 18th floor and was under control by 12:30 p.m.

Seelig says the building's sprinkler system helped confine the fire to one unit, however other units may have sustained water damage.

Police closed Ala Wai Boulevard in the area of Wai Nani Way as they fought the fire.
