Charisse L. Manley
Molokai High School
Wrestling, Cross Country, Track & Field, Volleyball
My name is Charisse Manley, and I
am the proud daughter of Randy and Louise Manley. Though born in Miami, Florida at six months of age my
parents packed our bags and moved to the island of Molokai to serve in
ministry. I have loved growing up on Molokai, and I am honored to represent my
peers as the valedictorian of Molokai High School's Class of ‘2012!
Some of my accomplishments include
being a state qualifier in cross country and a three time state medalist in the
sport of wrestling. Though I have
many passions wrestling remains at the top of my list for through this
particular sport I have learned so many valuable life lessons like discipline,
determination, perseverance and overcoming! I must admit that I am probably partial to wrestling
because of my amazing coach…who just happens to be my dad, as well!
In the fall I will be attending Azusa
Pacific University in California where I hope to earn a bachelor's degree in
Education and prepare to carry on the family legacy of gifted teachers!
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who means everything to
me! His glory is my motivation,
and it is only because of His great love for me that I have accomplished
anything worthwhile in life. I
would also like to thank my parents who are most definitely the best in the
world! Thank you for all your love, encouragement, discipline, and the
countless ways you have invested in me! I love you both so much. I would like
to acknowledge my four siblings for their laughter, friendship, and for always
cheering me on! Lastly, a big mahalo to this scholarship committee for
considering me a worthy recipient of this esteemed award! I am so honored and humbled to receive
this recognition and financial aid!
