On Sunrise: Reaction from Family of Rescued Sailor

REACTION FROM RESCUED BOATER'S FAMILY

A container ship came in overnight with precious cargo onboard. For the second time this year, the Horizon Reliance rescued a distressed boater. The Horizon changed course to pick up an 81 year old who had a stroke on his 33 foot sailboat one thousand miles away from Oahu. Robert Bourdon was greeted at Pier 51 just after midnight by his daughter in law. Hawaii News Now spoke with Bourdon's emotional family about his scare at sea and heroic rescue. We were the only crew there for his arrival. Ramsay Wharton has the exclusive details ahead on Sunrise.

MARINES DEPLOY

The first wave of Kaneohe Marines will deploy to Okinawa this morning. 2 hundred will be sent off today. In all, 700 Hawaii based Marines and Sailors will be dispatched throughout the Pacific.

BOX JELLYFISH WARNING

Beware of the box jellyfish. There's been a big influx this month. Lifeguards counted 55 jellyfish at Ala Moana Beach. More than 70 beach goers were stung in Waikiki. Today is the last day of the monthly influx.

See you on Sunrise!

Aloha,

Tannya Joaquin
