HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are investigating a vehicle crash that sent a female officer to the hospital in serious condition.

According to officials, a silver Nissan truck slammed into an HPD patrol car at the intersection of Beretania Street and Ward Avenue at about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday.

A witness says the driver of the truck, a 21-year-old male, ran a red light and crashed into the police unit.

The HPD officer was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

At last check, no arrests were made.

Police partially blocked off Beretania Street and Ward Avenue while Honolulu Fire Department crews cleaned up the debris.
