Tourist rescued after zipline accident on Maui

WAIKAPU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A tourist from California was seriously injured Monday while riding a zipline on Maui.

It happened at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu.

At 10:22 a.m. the 43-year-old woman from Fremont, California was coming in for a landing when officials say she used her feet as a brake.

Officials say she hit a tower about 40 feet above the ground. The victim sustained a broken leg and rescued by helicopter.

She was taken by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
