Water main break floods Aiea townhomes

AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Forty Aiea residents were without water Monday following a water main break.

According to officials, it happened at about 1:50 p.m. at the Hillside Terrace complex on Komo Mai drive.

The eight-inch main ruptured in the parking lot sending a wall of water into two townhomes, both sustained damage.

The Board of Water Supply managed to shut off the water, but not before the rupture created a big crater in the parking lot.

Repair work to the broken main was completed at about 10:40 p.m.

Water service has since been restored to impacted customers.
