Auto Fire, Kamehameha Day, Hawaii's Next Food Network Star

AUTO FIRE

Firefighters rushed to put out a truck fire this morning in a fenced property on Farrington Highway. We know HFD had to cut through two gates just to get to the burning vehicle and police are on scene. Ramsay is there too and will have the latest for us on Sunrise.

MILILANI RESTAURANT FIRE

Investigators will look for clues today into a fire at the Mililani Market Place L & L Drive Inn. It started last night around 9. The Safeway & Longs in the center were both evacuated as a precaution.

PUPPY MILL SUSPECT

A man accused of running a puppy mill in Waimanalo last year has to be in a Las Vegas court today for an extradition hearing. 55 year old David Lee Becker was arrested earlier this month after Governor Abercrombie authorized a special warrant for 153 counts of animal cruelty.

WEATHER NOW: HOT MONDAY

Expect another scorcher today. Dan says the winds won't pick up until later in the day so temperatures will really heat up.

FIRST RAIL COLUMN UP

The first rail column is now up in Kapolei. The Mayor and rail officials unveiled the column over the weekend. The next one goes up in a couple of weeks.

KAMEHAMEHA CELEBRATIONS

Statues of King Kamehameha will be the center of birthday celebrations today. We'll be live in Waikiki for the occasion. In Kohala on the Big Island, a lei draping ceremony will be held at the King Kamehameha statue at 8 this morning followed by a floral parade and Hoolaulea. Share your pictures on our facebook page so we can share them on our news.

KAMEHAMEHA DAY CLOSURES/CHANGES

City and State offices will be closed including Satellite City halls. Trash collection will continue and the landfills and transfer stations will be open. The bus is operating on its State holiday schedule. On street parking will be free except for those meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Kapiolani Park.

HAWAII'S NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR

Plus, we'll have a special guest cooking in our Sunrise kitchen. Phillip Ippy Aiona from the "next Food Network Star" competition is back home in Hawaii to watch the fifth episode with family and friends. He will join us live at 8:10 on KFVE.

See you on Sunrise!

Aloha,

Tannya Joaquin
