LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Las Vegas police say Blackie Pele-Poti, a former Waipahu resident, was shot and killed by his step son in a Las Vegas neighborhood on Wednesday.

Pele-Poti, 44, died Wednesday morning after a shooting near the intersection of La Serna street and Windmill Parkway.

Las Vegas patrol officers arrived just before 9 a.m. to find Pele-Poti lying in the street with gunshot wounds to his head. He died at the scene.

Police arrested 19-year-old Tyten Kaehu-Scanlan shortly after the shooting. Homicide Investigators believe Kaehu-Scanlan shot Pele, his stepfather, in an ongoing feud between the two.

Kaehu-Scanland was taken to the Clark County Detention Center on murder with a deadly weapon charge.

Blackie Pele-Poti was a 1986 graduate of Waipahu High School, according to his Facebook page.
