HONOLULU – The MLB First Year Player Draft concluded Wednesday, with three more players with Hawaii ties being selected.
The University of Hawaii Rainbows saw two of their student-athletes drafted. Pitcher Matt Sisto was taken in the 20th round by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Sisto was 8-4 with a 3.46 ERA this past season.
17 rounds later, the Arizona Diamondbacks took fellow ‘Bow Breland Almadova. The Junior outfielder will have the opportunity to return to UH if he doesn't sign with the Diamondbacks.
Hilo native and HPU graduate Blake Amaral was taken in the 40th round by the LA Angels.
