HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On June 10th Adega Portuguesa Restaurant and Bar will be hosting Camões Day (Portugal Day) with a day full of traditional Portuguese dance, traditional Portuguese food, and traditional Portuguese music!
Portugal Day, is Portugal's National Day celebrated annually on June 10. Although officially observed only in Portugal, Portuguese citizens and emigrants throughout the world celebrate this holiday. The June 10 date commemorates the death of national literary icon Luís Vaz de Camões in 1580. Since Camões' date of birth is unknown, the date of his death is celebrated as Portugal's National Day. Here at Adega we will be celebrating Dia de Portugal by having a special buffet for lunch with Portuguese favorites Vinho D'Ahlo and Bachalhau from 11:30am to 2:30pm, after the buffet from 2:30 - 3:30 there will be a Portuguese language class covering the basics taught by the owner of Adega Antonio (Trigo) Da Silva). That will be followed by a Traditional Portuguese dance lessons and Camões group performance going lasting 3:30-5:30. Following the Dancing from 5:30-6:30 there will be a performance by Fado singer Josephine. Lastly to end the night Sandy Tsukiyama will be performing Bossa Nova from 7:30 to 9:30. Reservations must be made for Sandy's Show.
Adega opens its doors at 11:30am every day of the week serving a Portuguese menu Monday-Thursday and Saturdays. Fridays and Sundays are Brazilian Special Days where Brazilian Dishes are incorporated into the menu including Brazilian Feijoada, Muqueca De Peixe, and Bifa A Cavalo. Adega also has a Lunch Buffet every day of the week running from 11:30 am to 2:30pm including a variation of items ranging from Febras Ceboladas (Pork with peppers and onions) to Dobrada (tripe stew).
