Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Since his prep years at St. Louis school, Darnell Arceneaux has made headlines as a Crusader. Friday, Darnell took the spotlight when reports surfaced that he is no longer the varsity head football coach at St. Louis school.
St. Louis athletic director Ed Paola confirmed with Hawaii News Now Friday night, that Arceneaux submitted his resignation.
Over the last 24-hours, Paola met with the Crusaders coaching staff, players and parents to tell them in person that defensive coordinator Matt Wright had been named the new head coach.
Paola says Wright will keep the head coaching job and that a coaching search is not necessary.
Arceneaux was a star player for the Crusaders in the 90's. As head coach, St. Louis made two trips to the state title game, winning it all in 2010, under Arceneaux's guidance. However, last season, the Crusaders suffered through a sub-par season at 6-4.
