HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gas prices were a mix of slight price increases and dips in many regions throughout the islands last week, while the statewide average for regular went down a cent for the week at $4.53, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
The price is four cents less than a month ago and 44 cents more than a year ago.
Honolulu's average price was unchanged at $4.38 a gallon for regular unleaded. Today's price is eight cents less than a month ago and 41 cents higher than this time last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.65 a gallon, two cents less than last week, eight cents less than last month and 63 cents higher than this time last year.
Wailuku's average is $4.89 a gallon, a penny more than last week, unchanged from last month and 67 cents higher than last year.
"Look into carpools and ride-share programs," according to AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Diane Peterson. "Weekly fuel costs can be cut in half and save wear on your car if you rotate the driving with other commuters."
