SEATTLE, Wash. (HawaiiNewsNow) - One day after blowing his fourth save of the season, Seattle Mariners pitcher Brandon League learned that he lost his closer's role.
Seattle manager Eric Wedge made the announcement today, saying that League will share his closer duties. In 21-appearances this season the St. Louis school alum has an 0-4 record, 4.43 era, and 4-blown saves.
"I feel like it's best for Brandon and I feel like it's best for the team right now, and it will be the best thing for us moving forward," said Mariners Manager Eric Wedge.
"Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a couple steps forward, and that's what we're doing."
In 2011, League made his first all-star appearance after recording a career best 37 saves.
