Ramsay Puanani Wharton has been serving the people of Hawaii as a broadcast journalist for the past decade, most recently as the Early Edition Anchor and Live Reporter with Hawaii's #1 rated morning news show, Sunrise on KGMB9.  Prior to that Ramsay worked as the Evening Reporter and  #1 rated Weekend Anchor at Fox affiliate KHON2 News. She began her broadcasting career in radio and worked as and Anchor/Reporter for both KRTR-96 FM and CNN radio's KHNR-650 AM.  In 2010, Ramsay pursued public service outside of journalism and became a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Hawaii's Second Congressional District.

Ramsay received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida in Political Science, and her Master of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism & Public Affairs from American University in Washington, D.C. In 2010, she began the pursuit of her second Masters degree in Diplomacy & Military Studies at Hawaii Pacific University.

Born in California and raised in Orlando, Florida, Ramsay is connected to her island roots and her strong Hawaiian-Chinese heritage by her father, Hilo born and Kalani High School graduate, George Newman.  Ramsay moved to Hawaii in 1997, after living abroad and teaching English in South Korea. She later married a U.S.  Marine stationed at Kaneohe and they have a 6-year-old daughter together.  Ramsay has an adventurous spirit and loves to travel and explore other cultures. She has traveled in Europe and spent time in many Southeast Asian countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and most recently Vietnam.  Ramsay also enjoys dancing, snorkeling, cooking, watching movies, and photography but most of all having fun with her young daughter.
