HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Celebrate Father's Day this year with the biggest old-school R&B reunion tour to hit Hawaii in decades.
Capone's Productions brings all six members of legendary R&B group New Edition and their hits to Honolulu as part of the 30th Anniversary "Candy Girl" tour. This special Father's Day concert will be held on Sunday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Neal S Blaisdell Arena.
New Edition, with a lineup that consisted of Ronnie Devoe, Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins and Ralph Tresvant, recorded numerous hits in the '80s, including 1983's "Candy Girl" and 1984's "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man."
In 1985, Brown left to pursue his own highly successful solo career, and the group went on hiatus in 1990 while its members worked on side projects. The band reunited last year for their 30th anniversary tour, which officially began in early 2012. At this show, New Edition will be performing both their solo and group hits.
Opening for New Edition will be local band Nesian N.I.N.E.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.
