HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The last time we caught up with the speedy center fielder, he was playing a role on Hawaii Five-0. Now Victorino needs your help to star in a different kind of show.
Shane Victorino has won a World Series Championship once, been selected to Major League Baseball's All Star game twice, and hopes to return there for a third time.
"It means a lot," said Victorino, "Getting there twice in 2009 and 2011, especially being voted by the fans I think that's great, the support Hawaii has given me in Philadelphia."
While support is great, Philadelphia's season has had its issues thus far. Injuries to key Phillies stars Ryan Howard and Chase Utley have placed a heavy load on the three time Golden Glove recipient. He's batting just .260 and knows he could do better.
"Obviously I'm not living up to my capabilities," said Victorino, "I haven't done what I've been wanting to do, yeah I'd like to be hitting .300, but unfortunately for me I haven't yet."
Fortunately for him there's still a long way to go this season, and at the end of it Victorino believes his Philadelphia Phillies will be in this years World Series. As for his numbers..
"You can't sit there everyday and worry about your stats," said Victorino, "if you think about your stats every single day that becomes added pressure because say you don't do good or have a good game, your numbers drop a little bit but it's just a matter of staying focused and plugging along."
And while he's plugging along, he hopes you'll put in a plug for him by voting him into this years All Star game. Voting ends at 11:59 PM ET on Thursday, June 28, 2012. You can vote a maximum of 25 times per email address.
