BREAKING NEWS- WAIALUA FIRE

We're following breaking news. Crews are working to put out a fire in Waialua. Just moments ago, it reignited. Flames spread from a shed to a car, then ignited brush. Ramsay will have live reports starting at 4:30 on Sunrise.

WEATHER NOW: WINDS PICKING UP

Winds are building, but fortunately it's not a major issue for firefighters on scene in Waialua. Dan is tracking weather and a wind advisory for Big Island and Maui summits.

TEACHERS VOTE

Happening today, thousands of Hawaii teachers will vote on a contract they rejected once before. This time, a 'no' vote will authorize the Union to strike. Voting is open until midnight and Hawaii News Now will be following developments closely. Coincidentally, today's also the day states can apply for 400 million in "Race to the Top" funding. Hawaii's 40 million dollar piece of the pie was at risk due to the lack of progress and a contract with teachers.

BEN CAYETANO LIVE ON SUNRISE

Our campaign coverage continues ahead of our live televised Mayoral debate tomorrow night. Yesterday, we sat down with Peter Carlisle. This morning, former Governor Ben Cayetano will join us live on Sunrise. Kirk Caldwell will be in studio tomorrow morning. Look for our interviews with the candidates at 7:50.

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

A new report finds that Honolulu drivers waste more time sitting in traffic than anyplace else in the country. The study by "Inrix" finds that Honolulu drivers wasted an average of 58 hours stuck in traffic last year. Does that sound about right to you? Sound off on our Hawaii News Now facebook page.

NATIONAL HAMBURGER MONTH

Some better news to report. It's national hamburger month and the Counter will drop by to cook up some mouth watering creations.

See you on Sunrise!

Aloha,

Tannya Joaquin
