Rainbow Wahine Lose Opener of NCAA Regional

Tucson, Arizona (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team (44-8) couldn't stop their recent slide, losing their 3rd straight game, in a 7-3 defeat to Notre Dame in 9 innings in round one of the NCAA Arizona Regional.

Kelly Majam went 4-4 from the plate with two solo-home runs, while freshman Leisha Li'ili'i added a solo shot in the bottom of the 4th inning. But, UH couldn't muster enough offense to keep up with the Fighting Irish who scored 4-runs off pitcher Stephanie Ricketts in the top of the 9th inning.

Hawaii's loss doesn't end their season, instead, UH falls to the elimination part of the bracket. They'll face the loser of the North Dakota State and Arizona State game which will be played at 8m EST. The 13th seed Sun Devils are the host team for regional.
