Honolulu paper to print local edition of USA Today

HONOLULU (AP) - The Honolulu Star-Advertiser will be printing a Hawaii edition of USA Today.

The local edition will be printed locally by the Honolulu paper starting Monday. The Hawaii edition will include all four sections of the mainland editions condensed into two 12-page sections and also feature two pages of local news.

Star-Advertiser Publisher Dennis Francis says the agreement between the two papers provides Hawaii with more timely access to a national newspaper. He says the local content will be specifically designed for USA Today's primary audience in Hawaii, which consists mainly of visitors.

USA Today Executive Vice President and General Manager Susie Ellwood says Hawaii is an important market.

Star-Advertiser home-delivery subscribers will be offered the USA Today Hawaii edition for $5 a month.
