STARKSVILLE, Miss.— (Hawaii Athletics) The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has
announced the 2012 NFCA Division I All-Region teams, honoring student-athletes
from the Association's 10 regions. A total of 263 players representing 129
different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first
and second teams for each region. University of Hawai`i softball pitcher
Stephanie Ricketts was voted to the first team while centerfielder Kelly Majam
earned second team honors.
Ricketts, who earned her third-straight WAC
Pitcher of the Year honor last week, joined former UH standout Dana Degen as
being the only two Rainbow Wahine to ever be selected to the All-Region teams
all four years. Currently, Ricketts has a 28-4 record with a 1.24 ERA in 214.1

holding them to a .181 batting average and has 30 complete games with 10
shutouts thus far. Ricketts is UH's all-time leader in wins, strike outs,
starts, appearances, complete games, and innings pitched. She earned first team
honors as a freshman and was named to the second team the past two seasons.
Majam, who earned first team all-region honors
as a freshman in 2010, was named to her second all-West Region team. She
finished the season strong, with a .301 overall batting average and team-highs
with 54 runs scored and 38 walks. She is second on the team with 13 home runs
and a .616 slugging percentage. She has started all 51 games for Hawai`i in
centerfield. Majam broke UH's career record for home runs this season and is
currently up to 52 and she is the UH's all time walks leader with 116 and is
closing in fast on UH's record for runs scored.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches
from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to
one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference
pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added
for All-America consideration.
