Maui Police seek Kihei assault suspect

KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Maui Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with an assault near the Paradise Garden Condominium in Kihei.

Police officials say that Sydney Elaban-Paoa stabbed and cut a 21 year old man following an altercation on May 14, 2012 at just before 3:24 a.m. near the Paradise Garden Condominiums at 851 South Kihei Road. Elaban-Paoa was reported to have fled the scene before police arrived.

Sydney Elaban-Paoa is described as being a 19 –year-old male of Hawaiian and Filipino descent, standing 5'6" and weighting approximately 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. No local address was available, but it is believed Elaban-Paoa hangs out in the Kihei area.

Police consider Elaban-Paoa to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Maui Crime Stoppers at (808) 242-6966 or Maui Police at 911.
