UH Maui College graduates on Molokai receive their diplomas

MOLOKAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - UH students on Moloka'i finally received their diplomas Saturday.

The 55 graduates attended the Moloka'i Education Center, which is a part of the UH Maui College.

Most are part-time students because of work and family obligations.

One of them managed to graduate with a 4.0 GPA, all while raising seven children and four grandkids.

"For many of us, that's impossible for us to leave our families and go off island to get an education so this is wonderful that we have this here on our island", said Eldine Albino, graduate and mother of seven.

UH says about 75% of the graduates are part-Hawaiian.

They range in age, and the oldest is 64.
