MANILA, Philippines (HawaiiNewsNow) - Brian Viloria slammed the book shut on his rivalry with Omar Nino Romero, earning a TKO in the 9th round at the Ynares Sports Arena.
With 54-seconds remaining in the 9th, Viloria unleashed a right blow to Romero's head that buckled the challenger and forced the referee to stop the fight.
The win improves Viloria's record to 31-3-0 with 18 knockouts.
While the WBO flyweight championship was on the line, this one was personal for Viloria.
In 2006, Romero stripped Viloria of his WBC flyweight title. Three months later, both met in a rematch that ended in a draw, only to see the result turned into a no-contest after Romero tested positive for a banned substance.
