Letter carriers help 'Stamp Out Hunger'

PEARL CITY (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thousands of mail carriers across the country teamed up Saturday to 'Stamp Out Hunger'.

It's all part of the National Association of Letter Carrier's annual food drive.

On O'ahu, carriers from the Pearl City post office sorted through thousands of pounds of canned goods donated by residents.

"I always say it wouldn't be possible without our customers and together, it was a saying this year, "Let's end hunger in America, with one letter carrier and one concerned customer at a time", said carrier Adele Yoshikawa.

Last year, the Pearl City post office collected more than 43,000 pounds of food.

All the donations are given to the Hawaii Foodbank.
