LAS CRUCES, NM - (Hawaii Athletics) No. 11/13 Hawai`i (44-5, 17-3 WAC) defeated San Jose State
(27-27, 9-10 WAC), 5-1 on Thursday, May 10, the second day of the Western
Athletic Conference Championship tournament.
Hawai`i's Stephanie Ricketts (28-3) earned the win in her
30th complete game of the season. She allowed one run on three hits with four
walks and two strike outs.
UH's Kayla Wartner went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs
scored and a walk; Jessica Iwata went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a run scored and a
walk; Leisha Li`ili`i was 1-for-2 with an RBI single; and Kelly Majam was 1-for
3 with two runs scored and a walk.
San Jose State's Amanda Pridmore also tossed a complete
game, throwing 6.0 innings, allowing five runs on five hits with five walks and
seven strike outs.
The Spartans' lone run came on a solo home run with two outs
in the third by clean-up hitter Breanna Lopez.
