DENVER, Colo. – (Hawaii Athletics) University of Hawai'i senior pitcher Matt Sisto has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played from April 30-May 6. This is the first WAC weekly honor of the season for Sisto and second of his career.

Sisto guided the Rainbows to a 5-2 win on Thursday over New Mexico State. He foiled the Aggie order for much of the game, working seven complete innings while allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts. He picked up his league-best eighth win of the season.

Sisto is having career year in his final season as a Rainbow. Prior to this season he had never won more than five games, and ranks third in program history with 53 career starts. Sisto ranks in the WAC's top five in ERA (2.82) and opposing batting average (.249), and is first in innings pitched (83.0).

Sisto and the 'Bows open up a four-game road trip beginning with three WAC games at Sacramento State (May 11-13), followed by a single game against UC Davis on Monday, May 14.
