PAUWELA, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two men are safe after a fishing boat sank in waters off Maui's north shore.
According to the Coast Guard, the boat sank about a mile off of Pauwela just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
The boat's captain says he and his first mate woke up and realized they were under water, floating on the boat's bumper.
The captain swam three hours to get to shore, but first mate Trevor Brown, 18, was missing for several hours.
Coast Guard officials say Brown was located at about 6:40 a.m. Friday, after he walked on shore in Pauwela.
Brown is receiving medical attention.
