SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (HawaiiNewsNow) - Women warriors at Schofield Barracks will soon be toeing the front lines of war.

The Army says that as soon as May 14, it will start placing women in as many as 14,000 combat-related jobs including positions in Hawaii.

According to a Military Times Report, the women will go to nine combat brigades around the country including the Second Stryker Brigade Combat Team and the 3rd Brigade Combat Team in the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield.

Currently, women make up almost 16 percent of the Army. More than 135,000 female soldiers have deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.
