Vercruyssen, Ceroli Hawaii's Top Trampoline Gymnasts

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Activities for the 12th Hawaii Trampoline Championships concluded last week with outstanding performances in trampoline gymnastics to rank all participants and crown state champions by age group and overall. The youngest player was three and the oldest 93 (see picture below) with abilities ranging from almost no experience to international champions. Competitions were held on individual trampoline (TRI), synchronized trampoline (TRS), double mini-trampoline (DMT), and power tumbling (TUM) with the top five males and top five females overall on trampoline and double mini-trampoline competing in a final ranking to conclude competition.

Again winning their age groups and the finals, the overall individual event winners (grand champions) for both TRI and DMT were Nani Vercruyssen for the women and Zac Ceroli for the men. Vercruyssen, a many time national champion at all ability levels in the sport, is currently ranked third among the top senior elites in the US competing for two spots to go to the London Olympics. Ceroli, who recently advanced from Junior to Senior Elite, has no senior ranking but has qualified to participate in the next Olympic Trial event (the second of three to determine two male spots for London).

Vercruyssen, Ceroli, and Shane Doi, Hawaii's only elite gymnasts, next compete in the Stars and Stripes Cup, which is also the second Olympic Trial for Trampoline Gymnastics, in Cleveland, OH, in two weeks.

An abbreviated version of the 12th Hawaii Trampoline Championships results are in the attached Microsoft Word file showing only the state champions and medalists. For detailed results see www.hawaiiacademy.com. For additional information contact Dr Donna Mah (mah@hawaii.edu or 842.5642).
