NEW YORK, New York (HawaiiNewsNow) - Defensive back Brandon Hardin was the first guy with Hawaii ties to be selected in the 2012 NFL draft.
The former Oregon State standout was selected in the third round by the Chicago bears, 79th overall.
Hardin, a Kamehameha-Kapalama alum, missed most of the 2011 season after suffering a shoulder injury, but performed well enough during his pro day to impress scouts. Logging a 4.36 in the 40 and he benching 225 pounds 24 times.
He also racked up 4.5 tackles and recovered a fumble during the East-West shrine game.
