Spartans knock off Rainbows, avoid sweep

SAN JOSE, Calif. (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Rainbows dropped a 6-4 decision to San Jose State Sunday, as the Spartans fought off the potential sweep.

Despite the loss, Mike Trapasso's club won their fourth straight series, taking two of three games from the Spartans.

Zach Swasey was a bright spot at the plate for Hawaii, going 2-4 with an RBI.  Scott Squier didn't fare as well on the mound, as he allowed 4 earned runs in 4 innings pitched on 6 hits and 4 walks.

The Warriors are now 4-2 in conference play, 23-16 overall.  They next head down to Louisiana for a Tuesday matchup against Grambling, before playing three games in Ruston against Louisiana Tech.

Their next home series begins May 3 when they host New Mexico State.  UH's final home series of the regular season is against Nevada, beginning May 17.
