No tsunami threat to Hawaii after large earthquake off Indonesia

INDONESIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake shook an area near the north coast of Papua, Indonesia.

The quake was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was measured at a magnitude 6.6, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened at 3:16 p.m. Hawaii time.
