Iolani School Fair- Global Getaway

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The 21st annual 'Iolani School Fair "Global Getaway" takes place Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21 on the school's campus in Mo`ili`ili from noon to 10:30 p.m. both days. The Fair is the school's biggest fundraiser with food booths, demonstrations, games for all ages, Xtreme Fun, rides, crafts, fresh produce, plants, gourmet chef demonstrations, silent auction, movies, live entertainment and more. Proceeds enable 'Iolani to improve facilities, update equipment, and increase scholarships.

This year the gourmet food booth will complement the Global Getaway theme with international foods such as a Korean Wrap, Greek and Veggie Wraps, Cuban Sandwich, Pasta Bolognese, Sushi and Ochazuke. There will also be delectable desserts such as chocolate panna cotta, strawberries romanoff, red velvet cupcakes from Hokulani Bakery and fresh crepes from Tango.

Food booths include the ever-popular Hawaiian plates, barbecue chicken, noodles, malasadas, smoothies, Waiola shave ice, waffle hotdogs, pizza and more. Some new items include li hing malasadas and New Orleans-style Gumbo.

An addition to the Xtreme Fun fairway this year is the Ninjasaur Slide which is a giant inflated double slide. On Saturday from noon to 4 p.m, for a $20 discount wristband, kids enjoy unlimited entry to Xtreme Fun.

The games tent will feature new and exciting games with the Hole-In-One Game offering a grand prize each night of two roundtrip tickets on Alaska Airlines to any Alaska Air destination.

The marketplace will include a general store, homemade goodies, jams and jellies, arts and crafts, plants, face-painting, gourmet food booth and more. Pre-registered teams will compete in 5 v 5 futsal (a version of soccer) tournament, and the silent auction will again showcase restaurant certificates, artwork, gift baskets, jewelry, and other treasures.
