Teachers vs. BOE, Ahi Shortage, Hawaii Five-O Wrap 'Um Party

TEACHERS VS. BOE

Today, HSTA will get its chance to respond to yesterday's decision by the Board of Education to create new evaluations for teachers. It's the first time the teachers union will be back at the negotiating table three months after rejecting the State's contract proposal. The union website is urging teachers to wear red to school today in a show of solidarity with the bargaining team. HSTA's Executive Director has said teachers would have preferred to determine how to evaluate teachers instead of having the BOE do it.

Seems the fish aren't biting and that's driving prices of a local favorite way up. An ahi shortage has caused a spike in poke and sashimi prices.
