NANAKULI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Six people, including three children, are recovering Saturday after an SUV slammed head-on into a car in Nanakuli.
It happened around 9:23 a.m. Saturday morning.
Police say the driver of the gray Chevy trailblazer crossed the center line on Farrington Highway.
The 18-year old driver, identified as Telina Sonada and her three juvenile passengers were seriously injured.
The 22-year old driver of the other car and his passenger were both pinned inside.
He was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.
His 16-year old passenger sustained serious injuries.
According to authorities, the woman nodded off behind the wheel.
"They found a gray SUV, what we had determined, the driver of that vehicle, a female about 18-years old, had fallen asleep and had crossed over the center line, and collided into the white car", said Lt. Robert Towne of the Honolulu Police Department.
We're told officers at the scene had to taze and arrest the uncle of Sonada's boyfriend, after police say they arrived at the scene and tried to start a fight.
Right now, investigators say they're not looking into speed and alcohol as possible factors.
