Boulders Crash into Homes, North Korea Launch Fails, Miss Aloha Hula

BOULDERS CRASH

Check out the size of the boulders that came crashing down from a hillside into three homes in Kalihi Valley around 9 last night. No one was hurt, but a dozen homes have been evacuated. Neighbors tell us it was "just like a time bomb." Ramsay will be live on Sunrise with the latest starting at 4:30.

NORTH KOREA LAUNCH FAILS

The controversial rocket launch by North Korea ended in failure. The rocket shattered shortly after takeoff and the debris plunged into the yellow sea. The "golf ball" X band radar seen frequently at Pearl Harbor was deployed to monitor the launch while two Hawaii based aircraft carriers also changed course. The question now: is it a sign that North Korea is far off from mastering the technology or will this motivate Pyongyang to try more launches?

MISS ALOHA HULA 2012

Congratulations to Rebecca Lilinoekekapahauomaunakea Sterling, Miss Aloha Hula. She was crowned after her moving performance last night at the Merrie Monarch festival in Hilo. She's with Halau Mohala Ilima from Oahu. Hear her reaction this morning on Sunrise.

Happening today, the Dalai Lama arrives in Hawaii. He's expected around 2:45 this afternoon. Watch for traffic delays, parking problems, and tight security when the Tibetan spiritual leader visits the UH Manoa campus this weekend. Hawaii News Now will keep you updated.

FUNERAL FOR MAUI CRASH VICTIM

One of the victims from the deadly crash on Maui is being remembered tonight. Services for 19 year old Annastachia Kalua Cruz Manuel will be held at Grace Church in Pukalani. She was one of 5 passengers killed on March 25th when the car she was in slammed head-on into another car in Kula. Police suspect the driver was drinking and driving.
