New images of Pu'u O'o Crater lava activity released

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The U.S. Geological Survey has released dramatic new images of the lava activity on the Big Island.

Scientists say a lava pond inside Pu'u O'o Crater has been spattering liquid hot rocks for weeks.

The lava flow over the plain remains active. However, at last check, the lava was about a mile from the ocean.
