Warriors End Worst Season in Program History

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team concluded the 2012 season with a four-set loss to UC Santa Barbara, Saturday in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at the Thunderdome. Set scores were 20-25, 25-20, 25-13, and 25-21.
 
The 14th-ranked Warriors (7-20, 4-18 MPSF) dropped both matches to the Gauchos and finished the season by losing their last eight matches and 15 of their final 16 contests. UH will not qualify for the eight-team MPSF Tournament, which begins in two weeks.
 
Playing in his final match for the Warriors was senior outside hitter Steven Hunt, who led the team with 14 kills and completed his four-year career with 1,076 kills. Senior libero Nick Castello had three digs in his final match while senior middle blocker Jarrrod Lofy added three kills and three blocks.
  
Hawai'i finished the season with 20 losses for the first time in school history.
